The Big Blue Methodology
At Big Blue, we believe safety improves as your child increases how far they can swim independently. That is why tracking – and celebrating – these distance milestones is core to our learn-to-swim philosophy. We measure swimming progress through SplashZones™, which is the distance a child can swim, first with assistance, and then increasingly independently. Our curriculum gives kids a strong swimming foundation by teaching the skills needed to stay afloat, breathe, and propel to safety. At every lesson, you will see Deck Supervisors tracking your swimmer’s progress as they learn new skills and swim further distances. You can view your swimmer’s progress and skills needed to move up levels in the Parent Portal or mobile app.
Our Curriculum
Within each of our swimming lesson curriculum levels – Baby Blue, Bright Blue, Bold Blue, and Big Blue – we are keeping an eye on the ultimate goal: a child successfully swimming greater distances. That is why each level has a target distance milestone that kids must achieve to move up to the next level. To graduate from our most advanced level, called Big Blue, kids must be able to swim 1,000 feet (about the height of the Empire State Building!) without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool. That is a BIG moment for kids! |

For swimmers to move up to the next level, they must pass all skills required for that level. Swim instructors will notify Deck Supervisors when a kid is ready to be tested. Click on the Progress section in the Parent Portal or mobile app to see what skills kids need to pass before moving up to the next level! We have a very good experience with the instructors and the staff. Their system is better than pro swim and they do not spend the last 5 minutes for play time. The place is new and clean.
