Need to bring a treat for a holiday gathering? Try making these M&M Pretzel Buttons with your kids!
These little bite sized treats have now become my children's favorite tradition to make together during the holidays. Much less prep-time than sugar cookies, and way less frustration than falling-down gingerbread house walls, this is a simple, but very yummy treat that even your toddlers can help you make without a chance for major kitchen disasters.

Ingredients:
- Plain square pretzels
- Hershey's hugs
- M&M's, red and green holiday mix

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
3. Arrange pretzels on the cookie sheets, careful not to overload with too many (you'll find out why in a minute) and top with a Hershey's hug directly in the center of each pretzel.

4. Bake for 5 minutes, until the chocolate looks slightly shiny and soft, but the hug still retains its shape
5. Remove from the oven and immediately press one M&M onto the top of each chocolate hug, lightly pressing down to slightly spread the chocolate and push the M&M down. You have to work quickly, so it helps to have two helper elves working on one tray.
6. Place cookie sheet in the refrigerator or freezer for about 5-15 minutes to let the chocolate set.
7. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container. Enjoy!

Pro Tip: The unwrapping of the Hershey's hugs is the most tedious part of this recipe. Let your child unwrap them while they're listening to music or watching their favorite holiday movie while you get everything else ready!

The nice thing about this festive little treat is that you can adapt the recipe based on your own personal preferences, different holidays, favorite colors for a birthday theme, etc. For Valentine's Day, we use pink and red M&M's, and for 4th of July we use red and blue! Or for Fall, you can use red, brown & orange M&M's, candy corn, and Rolos!
