The Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation set out to build an inclusive and accessible playground where all children can play side by side. At the Sensory Garden Playground, you’ll find a play space hidden away in the trees that’s designed to meet the diverse needs of all children that helps them to develop and have fun; learn to take turns and play alongside a new friend.
The Sensory Garden Playground offers something for all the senses–seeing, hearing, touch, and smell. Like the scent of the herbs in the fragrance garden, the sound of children playing on the large drums and chimes in the sound garden, the feeling of roaring through the air on high-back swings, and the sight of families gathering and encouraging cooperative, side-by-side play in the central gathering space.
Partnering organizations include Wheaton Park District, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, Forest Preserve of DuPage County and Kiwanis of Wheaton.
The Playground hosts Summer Saturdays; family-friendly events on the 3rd Saturday from May through August, free to attend for all, with a $5 suggested family donation.
Features of the playground include the 5 to 12-Year-Old Playground, Gravity Rail, GT Wave, 2 to 5-Year-Old Playground, and the Accessible Tree House. Visitors can enjoy the Danada South Walking Paths.
Birthday parties, picnics, and gatherings can be held under the open-air shelter for a small rental fee.
The Playground was built by the donations of community members. Donations are accepted and appreciated as we continue to grow the playground.
