Macaroni KID Wheaton is the premier hyper-local resource for families to find local events in town through our amazing (and award-winning!) local events calendar-- we connect families to local businesses, kid-friendly activities, and resources. All for free! Most of what we do is completely digital, acting as a connector and aggregator, but throughout the year, we like to do things to help promote local businesses and connect with families in real life! This is one of them!

To help bring unexpected fun to the community and start a chain reaction of spreading joy, each year we surprise families in Wheaton and neighboring communities by delivering 100 BOO Bags to local kids. Each basket will be filled with candy, freebies, crafts, swag items, and halloween goodies to bring smiles and Halloween cheer to the children to get them excited for the fall season!

Because it's fun, of course! But more importantly, Sponsors not only get to be a part of the fun, they also get their business seen by families in social media, articles, and promotion of this project, and your information is delivered directly into the homes of Wheaton families.
The online impressions will be in the thousands. We will hand deliver 100 bags directly to your target customer. Each flyer we include with the bags will feature our sponsors' logos letting the community know who helped fund this project. Local families love to turn around and support businesses who give back to the community in fun ways like this.This is a great opportunity to promote any fall specials, new classes and offerings, or bring new customers in with a freebie coupon as we go into the autumn season!

Last year, some of the best items were ones that were clearly labeled with your brand name (i.e. your logo sticker on the candy, box, or on the individual bag of candy) or a flyer tied to the trinket. Some other companies chose to include a coupon for a free item on a next visit or exclusive BOGO offer -- if you do that, I recommend putting an expiration of a least 4+ months (the Halloween season is busy for parents - make sure to give them time to visit, but also longer time they have it clipped to their fridge 😉)
Some other ideas: Coloring Books, Customized erasers, Branded candy bags, Halloween colored pencils, Toothbrushes with your company name on it or even something for the parents (koozies, chip clips, and first aid items are always a hit!

There will be a $100 Sponsorship Fee. This fee will go towards the bags themselves, extra candy and goodies for the bags, time to fill and the time to deliver, and the digital promotion of the project. You must also provide 100 fun items. This could be anything from free item coupons, kid-friendly promo swag items, bulk candy, toys, cups, halloween goodies, etc. The point is for the families to see your item and to think of your business. You can also include 100 flyers or promo materials to tell everyone about your business!

After we collect all the goodies from our sponsors, we will then fill and hand deliver each basket to the doors of the families who sign up FREE. That's right, families who sign up to receive a BOO Basket will not pay ANYTHING. We encourage our recipients to share on social media, "boo" their neighbors and friends and keep the fun going all season long! Once we collect the items from you, there is nothing else you need to do -- other than share on social media that you're involved in this fun project to help raise the excitement!
