If you have Minecraft obsessed children in your house (or even just a Minecraft-curious kid), you're going to want to add this one to your summer bucket list. Especially if you really want to solidify your status as the coolest mom ever and make an effort to relate to your kids' interests. Now let's get into Adventure mode and tell you all about it!

As you know, we're pretty strict on smartphones, social media, and multiplayer video games, but one game that we allow and love is Minecraft. With the right parental settings, my kids can build creatively, work together, share ideas with friends, and explore new worlds safely. So they were absolutely in heaven when we visited Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue in Rosemont. I could not have predicted how much I loved it too. Even if you've never played Minecraft or don't know your Creepers from your Endermen, this immersive experience is designed for the whole family to enjoy.

From the moment we walked in, the attention to detail was impressive. The environments, challenges, and interactive elements truly make you feel like you've stepped into the world of Minecraft. It was really cool that each player got to use their own "orb" that had so many different functionalities depending on which room we were in, and which challenge we had to complete. Some rooms required movement and active teamwork, and some had puzzles and handheld missions, but most of them were a combination of both! So everyone's attention was captivated the entire time.

The wall to wall graphics and color-drenched rooms were so amazing, along with life size statues of my kids' favorite minecraft charaters for plenty of photo ops. Pictures don't even do it justice. Though my daughter did have one complaint. No Minecraft kitties were anywhere to be found 😅
The staff brought incredible energy and enthusiasm to the experience, helping guests of all ages feel engaged and excited throughout the adventure. You could tell they genuinely enjoy it and love sharing it with others, and it's not just a summer job.

The experience takes place at EXP, a new destination for immersive experiences and exhibits. It's super easy to get to, located at 9900 Berwyn Avenue in Rosemont, with free parking in the lot and adjacent garage. Minecraft Experience runs through July 5 (but is closed on Tuesdays). Tickets start at $28 per person.
Families looking for an extra-special visit may want to consider attending on Fridays for Family Fun Nights, which include additional games, activities, and trivia that add even more excitement to the experience.

A few practical tips before you go:
- Lockers are available to store your belongings during the experience, as no strollers or big bags are allowed
- They move you through room to room as a group, and it took a little over an hour for the whole experience
- Food and drinks are not permitted inside, and there are no snacks available for purchase. The good news is that there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance before or after your visit.
- All ages are welcome (2 and under do not need a ticket) but since strollers aren't allowed and it's a lot of movement and strategy, I personally would only recommend it for ages 5 and up
- Professional group photos are available at the entrance for around $20. While it felt a little pricey, the themed backgrounds were fun, and as the resident family photographer, I couldn't resist the opportunity to actually be in the picture for once!
- The experience ends in a large merchandise shop, so it may be worth having a conversation with your kids beforehand about spending expectations, or encouraging them to bring their allowance money. Prices were about what I would expect for a gift shop, but it's good to be prepared ahead of time. Bonus - we did get a free poster with our purchase of a plush.

Our family left smiling, and that's always a good sign. If you're looking for something different to do this summer, this one is definitely worth checking out.
